Yes we love our cronuts, but the chance to ride in beautiful Marin County and taste exceptional cheeses, eat fabulous deli sandwiches and have an ice cold craft beer outside? What cyclist would pass that up? Not us! So we planned our ride from Sausalito out past Nicasio to our first stop- Marin French Cheese. It'a a favorite of ours.
Located on Point Reyes-Petaluma Rd, Marin French Cheese is great place to stop for water and a snack mid-ride. Its a common place to find cyclists refueling on their way to Marshall Wall or heading to Point Reyes Station. It has a beautiful outdoor seating area on a pond with gorgeous views. The cheese is fantastic. And we were lucky in that they were having a tasting inside. I can't say enough about the Petit Creme. It's my favorite.
After that stop we decided to take the least common route back to Sausalito. Not many cyclists head back through Novato, and it's too bad. The rolling hills leading to downtown Novato are breathtaking. The road is wide with a nice shoulder and limited traffic. The best part is that it lead us to our second stop for the day- Bicycle Brustop.
This bike shop is wonderful. Why? Because they have 5 craft beers on tap inside the shop and a great outdoor patio to enjoy a cold beer. We got sandwiches from Perry's Delicatessen just down the road and sat out front for our "European" mid-ride lunch. Perfect weather. Perfect company. Perfect day.
If you get a chance, head out to Marin French Cheese-either on the bike or by car for a nice picnic. And if you're in Novato, grab a draft beer from Bicycle Brustop- you won't be disappointed!
Cheers!!!
